My personal family history is outlined in a five part report, some of which is available to download below. Because of the size of these files, they have been compressed and are really just facsimiles of the originals. If you are interested in an image or better quality content, contact me and I will be happy to forward a better copy to you.

You may know this already. Albert Welles was wrong about William Buel being a Beville. William Beville born February 1604 became a lawyer or barrister in London and died there in 1634 where he left a will. His brother Robert died in 1640 leaving no children. Robert’s wife was Elizabeth Hampson, so he could not be father of William Buel immigrant either.
Goode Buel was short for Goode-wife Buel
Albert Welles said it appears William was…..not he definitley was a Beville.
Also on the Beville side Catherine Beville Hewett was not co-heir of Richard but Robert.
How much more was Albert Welles about. Ed

  12. Edwin,

Thanks for the comment – yes, I am aware of the Beville issue. It seems like a lot of the early genealogist where a bit over-enthusiastic and willing to make some assumptions that, upon greater scrutiny, would not hold water (my Holcombe side and Griffin side are other examples). Of course they were also working with greater restriction to information (or at least it took much more effort to get the information). Even so, and despite some erroneous claims, I think they did a good job and we owe them a debt of gratitude.

  13. I envy your work , thanks for all the good posts .
